  • come to class on time
  • come to class prepared
  • come to class prepared to work hard
  • no food or drinks please, except water
  • treat your fellow classmates, computers and teachers with respect

 EXPECTATIONS

-          You are to bring your binder with a pencil or pen to every class

-          Save work regularly … and BACKUP your work in a couple of places

-          I do not accept late assignments without penalty

10% off for the first day late

10% more for the second day

An automatic zero thereafter

COURSE DESCRIPTION

ISM Technology is a five-year program consisting of an integrated general computer and design technology curriculum.  The goal of the program is to integrate technology learning as much as possible with their other school work and classes– and to prepare students with the necessary skills for working with varied technology in the future.

Topics to Be Addressed (Approximate Timeline)                        

Quarter 1:

Unit Project: ‘Computer Networking Unit’ – How can we integrate and improve computer networks and communication for ISM?  Also …  ‘Internet and I’ assignment, future of technology in our world, advanced networking concepts, detailed historical timeline of computer and technology, software types/purposes, computer etiquette (Internet), hazards to computers, CD lesson – ‘Making Webpages’

Quarter 2:

Unit Project: ‘World’s Best Hamburger Unit’ – How can make and justify the world’s best hamburger?  Also … advanced work with graphics – 3 collages assignment, introduction to databases … simple design, comparison with spreadsheets, more advanced trouble shooting on computers, HTML / web page development

Quarter 3:

Unit Project: ‘Clocks Unit’ – What are the various choices available as we explore various styles and options for making a clock?  Also …  webpage validity, identifying differences among search engines on Internet, continue to work with keyboarding skills, computer etiquette – articles – computer buying guide assignment

Quarter 4:

Unit Project: ‘HTML writing / Webpage Unit’ – What options are available to begin writing HTML to create a webpage?  Also … identify various ethical issues in technology, reflect on career choices with computer / technology influence
